With the desire to help our contestants keep costs down in this current economic climate, Galaxy Productions has reduced the 2009 Oklahoma International Pageants to a one day event which will be held on April 25th .

In the past, our pageants have always been conducted on one day and we are very experienced at providing a quality event in a limited time frame. The day begins early with orientation and rehearsals followed by private one-on-one interviews with each of our five judges in the early afternoon. The staged portion of the pageant will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Seretean Center where we should crown our new titleholders right around 7:00 p.m. Although it’s a long day, it’s an exciting and fun day that you will be able to finish up with dinner at one of Stillwater's Three Amigos (Eskimo Joes, Mexico Joe's, Joseppi's) restaurants!

In 2008, International Pageants Group partnered with Go Red for Women to help fight against heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women in America. Our involvement in the movement can help save lives of mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters, grandmothers, best friends, and other women just like you!

I'd like to invite you to support National Wear Red Day. You may not know this, but the number one killer of women is heart disease. And every year more than 460,000 women die from this largely preventable disease. National Wear Red Day is a day to recognize the women who have died from this disease, to build awareness of the statistics, and to encourage all women to make a choice to beat heart disease.

This year National Wear Red Day is February 6. National Wear Red Day is for women like Theresa. As a busy mom, Theresa kept putting off a check-up, but called her doctor when she felt tired, short of breath, and started having back and chest pains. I had a feeling that it was my heart, but all the tests were saying it wasn't, Theresa said. Two months later, Theresa had a massive heart attack at a family birthday party. She was 38. Raising your entry fee for Miss Teen Oklahoma

So you really want to compete for the Miss Oklahoma International crown in April but you wonder how you can raise you entry fee? Here are some ideas. There are 21 weeks until April 4th deadline; that's saving/raising about $23 per week. Set a goal of 2-$50 sponsors per week, or 1-$100 sponsor per week, and in addition to your fees being paid, you'll also have money in reserve for tickets, wardrobe, travel, etc. We have a lot of helpful information we provide our contestants about securing sponsorships. (Be sure to ask about Good Luck lines!) But if sponsors are not an option, what about selling some things on e-Bay, having a garage sale or holding a fundraiser? If you're in college you could collecting quarters or loose change from your friends (NOTE: in addition to raising the money needed, you could build quite a cheering section when your friends come to the pageant!). It all adds up!

The personal/professional growth & development you gain, as well as the memories and experience, are all certainly worth the investment. Good luck! I'm sure you can see now that the Miss Teen Oklahoma International experience is within your reach.

If you plan to enter the 2008 Miss Teen Oklahoma International pageant, you don't want to wait until the last minute to do so.

When you enter, you will receive a beautifully stitched satin title banner so that you can make appearances for your platform. The more you speak about your platform, the better you are able to convey what you are trying to accomplish which will help you greatly in the one-on-one interview with the judges panel. Additionally, each appearance give you points for the Visibility Award which will be awarded at the pageant to the contestant who has made the most appearances.

You will need to purchase your State fitness wear from Pumpers. These are not sitting on the shelf but are made for you when you order them. Pumpers is located in Kansas and they can put a rush on your order but you can save yourself the rush charges if you order in enough time. Our paperwork is not like the other pageants you have entered. You will need to create a platform sheet describing your platform. This sheet, along with the Official Application are the only 2 pieces of information the judges will receive about you prior to your interveiw and you want to make a good impression. Don't forget, too, that the earlier you enter, the better your spot in the lineup!

Our deadline for entry and all paperwork is May 3, 2008. All paperwork submitted after the May 3rd deadline will have 1 point deducted each day from your final interview score. There will be no exceptions made to this deadline.

Northern Oklahoma People's Choice Donation

Jennifer Vanover of Oklahoma City was the winner of the People's Choice Award at the Northern Oklahoma International pageant last month in Stillwater. The winner of the People's Choice Award receives 100% of the funds collected to donate to her favorite charity.

Jennifer presented a check in the amount of $716 to Ryan Colley, the representative for RFC Asia at a benefit for the charity on March 14th. RFC Asia is a mission in the Phillippines which clothes and feeds orphans. They have started a Bible school with donations and since have started a fish hatchery so that the people are taught to be self sufficient.

Mrs. Oklahoma to be honored in the Senate

Mrs. Oklahoma 2007, Brooke Good, will be honored with a proclamation in the Oklahoma Senate on March 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. She will then be able to speak to the Senate as well.

All local titleholders who are interested in attending this event are invited. Please plan to arrive before 10:00 so that we can get a seat in the Senate Gallery. You should wear your banner but no crown. Please contact me with any questions or to let me know you will attend.

Venue Change - Northern Oklahoma Regional Pageant

The venue for the Northern Oklahoma International regional preliminary pageant has been changed to the Stillwater Public Library Auditorium. Everything else will remain the same.

The Stillwater Community Center underwent quite a bit of roof damage during the ice storms and, although they thought the roof would be repaired by now, it's not. So to protect our contestants from the possibility of competing in the rain, we are moving the event to the Library.

Inside Out or How We Determine Competition Order

You might ask, "How do you determine where I will compete in the pageant?" Our answer: from the inside out.

What I mean by this is that we make a list of contestants as you become fully entered. Once the deadline has passed, we divide the list in three. The first third of the list gets the middle numbers. The first person who entered fully will be the very middle contestant. The 2nd third of the group to enter becomes the last group of numbers behind the middle group. And the last to enter, get the numbers at the beginning. Therefore, if you enter at the last minute, you will likely be leading the line-up.

So take heart girls from Ada or Ardmore! You don't have to compete first in the line up. You just need to be sure to enter early enough to get the spot of your choice!

Regional Pageant Consolidation

We will be combining the 6 regional pageants into 2: Northern Oklahoma and Southern Oklahoma. It is our sincere desire to offer you the opportunity to compete at a regional preliminary to try and win your entry into the State pageant if that is your desire. However, due to low numbers, we have decided to combine the pageants into 2.

The Northern Oklahoma Regional will take place on February 16, 2008 at the Stillwater Community Center in Stillwater. Counties in Green, Red Carpet and Frontier Countries will be eligible to compete in this regional pageant.

The Southern Oklahoma Regional will take place on February 9, 2008 at the Ardmore Convention Center in Ardmore. Counties in Kiamichi, Arbuckle and Great Plains Countries will be eligible to compete in this regional pageant.

Applications are now being accepted for women who are interested in becoming the first Miss Teen Oklahoma International. Local titleholders will represent their communities at the Miss Teen Oklahoma International Pageant which will be held at the Stillwater Community Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma on April 27, 2008.

Each woman selected as a local titleholder will become an ambassador for her community and Oklahoma and will receive an official title and sash.

Competitions at the Miss Teen Oklahoma Pageant will include:

Private one-on-one interviews, with each contestant selecting a platform which she will speak about throughout her reign - 40%
Aerobic wear (in lieu of swimsuit competition) - 25%
Fun fashion wear – 20%
Evening gown - 25%

There is no swimsuit or talent required! If you are well spoken and have a heart for community service, this pageant is for you.

It's all about the candy!

Oklahoma International local titleholders will be on hand to pass out candy to the children of Bartlesville on October 27th from 4-6 p.m. The Fall Fun Fest is an annual street festival with trick-or-treating for the kids along with other entertainment including a coloring contest, costume contest, games, etc. The festival will be held on Dewey and Johnstone between Frank Phillips in downtown Bartlesville.

Join Mrs. Bartlesville 2007, Tari Carbaugh, Mrs. Tulsa 2008, Sasha Townsend and Mrs. Skiatook 2008, DaLonna Hanlin for this fun event.

Aerobic Wear Competition - 20%

"What should I wear for the aerobic wear competition?" Pumpers will be creating our aerobic wear outfit that all State level contestants will be required to wear.

The aerobic wear competition is designed to establish a contestant's overall level of fitness. It counts for 20% of your total score. You will purchase your aerobic wear from Pumpers. No rhinestones or sequins should be added to the outfit. You will wear white shoes and white, no show, socks. You may wear earrings but they should be no larger than the size of a quarter.

We designed this aerobic wear to complement every figure and all contestants will look terrific!

Stillwater Host City for Oklahoma International Pageants

Stillwater is now the host city for the Mrs. Oklahoma International, Miss Oklahoma International and Miss Teen Oklahoma International pageants.The pageants, which are official state preliminaries in the International Pageant system, are fairly new to Oklahoma. The Mrs. Oklahoma pageant was recently held for the first time since 2001 in Bartlesville. The Teen division (in its 6th year) and the Miss division (in its 5th year) have never been held in Oklahoma nor had a representative from the state.A separate state pageant will be held for each of the three divisions. In addition, six regional preliminary pageants will be held with the Great Plains Country regional also being held in Stillwater. “Because we plan to spend so much time in a location with the three separate state pageants, we were looking for a place that would make us feel at home,” says Lauri Rottmayer, executive director for the pageants. Once she met with the Stillwater Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, she knew she had found the right location. “Initially, we had only planned to hold a regional pageant in Stillwater,” says Rottmayer “but the more I worked with Courtney Arnall at the SCVB, the more convinced I became that we should move all of the state events there, too.”The International Pageant system has established itself as an organization with integrity, high ethical standards and consistent application of its rules and regulations. It is the goal of the state pageant organizers to provide women in Oklahoma the opportunity to compete in a pageant system that maintains the highest of moral values. Contestants in the Mrs. division must be married and between the ages of 21-56. Miss Oklahoma contestants must be between the ages of 19-29 and Miss Teen Oklahoma contestants must be between the ages of 13-18. All contestants compete in platform based one-on-one interviews, aerobic wear and evening gown. Miss and Teen contestants also compete in a Fun Fashion Wear competition.Whoever wins the state pageants will represent Oklahoma at the International pageants in July of 2008 at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Chicago.All three state pageants and the Frontier Country regional will be held at the Stillwater Community Center.
